
ECE/ECEA - Childcare Program
Kimberley Independent School is seeking an enthusiastic, caring and creative thinking Certified Early Childhood Educator and Assistants for our year round Child Care program. The Child Care program at KIS operates as a part of the larger school community, including the Kindergarten -Grade 5 School program. This is a unique learning environment and a wonderful opportunity for early learning educators to develop and provide children the space, materials and TIME to engage in open-ended, child-selected play. We spend a large amount of time outside, in our play-yards, and wandering in our neighborhood, community and in the forest near our school.
Early Childhood Educators (ECE/A) at Kimberley Independent School collaborate closely with other members of the program team to provide nurturing guidance, attentive care and education to young children (ages 30 months to 5 years) in a group setting, under the supervision of the Principal. The ECE/A also provides early learning experiences that will stimulate and develop the children’s intellectual, physical and emotional growth following the KIS philosophy.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Plan, carry out and evaluate developmentally appropriate activities and experiences that include indoor/outdoor, active/quiet, creative and sensory, individual and group activities

Plan, prepare and lead activities that encourage and promote each child’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development through storytelling, music, dramatic play, sensory and crafting, outdoor experiences and physical activity

Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits

Identify the abilities, interests and needs of children and develop individualized and group curriculum based on these.

Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for referrals to service providers with the oversight of Principal

Work with other team members to assess and implement identified care plan goals and strategies, ensuring consistent practice across the program

Establish and maintain positive, respectful and open communication with parents/family members, involving them in the decision making process as it relates to the growth of his/her child at KIS

Administer first aid and medication in accordance with KIS policy and procedures and licensing regulations

Share responsibility for maintaining environments, equipment, and playground areas to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of children; assist with toy/equipment disinfecting and report all maintenance needs for program spaces

Engage in collaborative relationships with the other KIS programs, community service providers and all co-educators at KIS

Attend and participate actively in all meetings as required with staff, parents or other service providers

Participate in ongoing professional development and attends/maintain all mandatory training and certifications

Participate in special promotional activities, programs, or events as required by KIS

Kimberley Independent School is looking for casual subs who hold at least a Responsible Adult qualification (preferably a BC certified Early Childhood Education Assistant) to join our team.
The Kimberley Independent School Child Care provides licensed part-time or full-time Child Care Programs and is looking for caring cover staff to be part of the team. Our enhanced program children are welcomed to be who they are, in an environment which is designed to allow them the most interaction possible. Our staff provides children the space, materials and time to engage in open-ended, child-selected play. We spend a large amount of time outside, in our play-yards, and wandering in our neighborhood, community and in the forest near our school. Children and adults alike benefit from time outside of walls, with the beauty of our East Kootenay landscape washing over us.
Casual work - Education Assistant and After-school support
Kimberley Independent School is looking for casual subs who hold at least a Responsible Adult qualification.
KIS is a vibrant, active environment where students are respected and guided to learn at their individual levels. We provide our students with an experiential learning environment by partaking in community field trips/initiatives, expression through the arts, physical development (skiing, swimming, climbing), French language, and outdoor education.
