Ice Fishing

Getting outdoors and participating in place based learning is still possible in the winter months. KIS has been enjoying the below zero program as part of our taking learning outdoors to learn to do by doing. Today Mr Charlie’s Grade 2&3 class and Mr Steve’s Grade 4&5 class spent the day ice fishing in a cross curricular field trip. A huge thank you to our local expert Archie who made sure we were fishing where it was safe, doing it properly and taught us so much. Thank you to our volunteers Chris and Ryan for all your help today. Thank you to Amy and Jill for the delicious muffins which we enjoyed with our hot chocolate. What a wonderful day of learning. Even caught (and released) a couple fish. 🐟
